You Need To Vote ... NOW !
You will soon be receiving the Ballots for the Bayou Rifles Board of Directors and for the Revised By-Laws. Open the envelope ... remove the one sheet of paper and the enclosed return envelope... mark the front and the back of the Ballot with your vote ... sign (and print) your name (both sides) ... add the date and your membership number ... fold the page and put it into the stamped-addressed envelope and seal ... mail it ... NOW!
There are two Ballots ... one printed on each side of the single sheet of paper. On one side is the Ballot for the nominees for the Bayou Rifles 2014 Board of Directors. The other side is the Ballot for the approval of the amendments to the By-Laws of Bayou Rifles, Inc. You should vote twice, once for each ballot, i.e. once on each side of the page.
The ballot for the nominees to the Board of Directors is the same as has been used in the past. The nominees were presented by the Nominating Committee and approved by the members attending at the Annual Meeting on October 26th.
The Ballot is being sent to every voting member of the club along with a stamped return addressed envelope. Each member should cast his ballot and return it without delay. Ballots received by the regular meeting of the Board on Monday, January 13, 2014 will be opened and counted at that time.
The By-Laws of Bayou Rifles have not been revised for over ten years, and are seriously in need of an update. A committee consisting of past presidents of BRI was tasked to examine and revise the existing By-Laws. A very careful and thorough effort was made to determine what specific changes were essential, and how to select the appropriate wording for clarity. Nothing was changed that didn't need to be. A comparison of the existing By-Laws with the revised version (both available on the BRI website https://bayourifles.wildapricot.org/bylaws) reflects only a few significant revisions along with a scattering of others intended to clarify meaning, eliminate redundant language and ensure consistency in terminology.
Highlights of the proposed changes are presented on the Ballot. You should read them before you vote. In the event you wish to see the exact details of any change go to the BRI website. A copy of the current By-Laws and a "marked-up" copy of the Revised By-Laws are posted for all members to see. In the "marked-up" version all deletions are marked in RED and the new text is shown in BLUE.
It is essential that you clearly mark your vote for each of the Ballots, sign both sides and return to BRI using the addressed/stamped envelope. Don't wait ... do it right away.
The best way to support your club is get your votes in early. 2014 will be another banner year for BRI. Let's get the paper work out-of-the-way and get on with our shooting.
